The fantasy baseball scoring system allows you to evaluate players’ performance in real games, translating it into virtual points for your team. Here is an example of a balanced and detailed point system:
- Pitchers
- Win: +10 points
- Loss: -5 points
- Save: +7 points
- Hold: +3 points
- Quality Start: +5 points (if the pitcher has pitched at least 6 innings, allowing no more than 3 runs)
- Strikeout: +1 point for each strikeout
- Earned Runs Allowed: -1 point for each run allowed
- Throws more than 8 innings (Complete Game): +10 points
- Hits Allowed: -0.5 points for each hit allowed
- Home Runs Allowed: -2 points for each Home Run
- Walks (BB): -0.5 points for each missed hook
- Throws less than 6 innings (Short Start): -3 points for each inning that was not completed (provided that “Quality Start” is not reached)
- Batters
- Hit: +1 point for each hit
- Home Run: +4 points for each home run
- Triple: +3 points
- Double: +2 points
- Walk: +1 point
- Stolen Base: +2 points
- Run: +1 point for each run on base
- RBI (Run Batted In): +2 points for each RBI
- Strikeout: -1 point for each strikeout
- Error: -1 point for each defensive error
- Caught Stealing: -1 point for an unsuccessful attempt to steal a base
- Fielding
- Caught Stealing: +2 points
- Putout: +1 point for each putout
- Assist: +0.5 points for each assist
- Errors: -1 point for each defensive error
- Bonus Points
- Game MVP: +5 points (awarded for exceptional performances such as multiple home runs, a large number of RBI, or stellar defense)
- 3-Hit Game: +3 points
- Career Milestone: +10 points for reaching a significant marks (e.g. 200th home run or 500th strikeout)
